We have developed a wide range of membership opportunities, because a wide range of volunteers, facilitators, and eco-preneurs are what will make the Rosseau Sanctuary a sustainable, thriving community.
Sanctuary Work Exchange Membership (in-kind)
Individuals who can commit to volunteering on the land and supporting events for 15hrs per season or more are invited to participate as a Work Exchange Members. Work Exchange Members can earn Community Dollars that can be used for many goods and services within the Community (e.g., harvest, retreat discounts, workshops). They also get discounts on camping in the crew camp area while they are working ($20/week), and opportunities to rent the cabins on a weekly ($250/week) or monthly ($450/mo) basis while they are reciprocating towards a project on the land, pending availability. Note: until the cabins and work crew area are completed, Work Exchange Members will need to work around retreat schedules and specific work crew dates for use of Home Farm.
Planning Circle Membership (in-kind)
This Plan is for Individuals from the Work Exchange Membership who can commit to volunteering on the land and supporting events for a minimum of 25hrs per season, for a minimum of 2 seasons of the year. This time and energy qualifies Work Exchange Members to apply to the Planning Circle to be involved in decision making and resource stewardship. Planning Circle Members also receive Membership discounts on event bookings at the Sanctuary, and one half-price discount to the annual Harvest Festival.
Facilitator Membership (Wood Plan) $400/Year; $100/Spring; $160/Winter, Summer, or Fall
The Facilitator Membership, or Wood Plan, is for those who would like to facilitate events at the Sanctuary. Members get booking discounts at the main lodge (Home Farm) for retreats, complementary access to our monthly professional development workshops in Toronto, a listing on our website’s “Create a Retreat” service, retreat planning resources and community support, and half-price discounts for up to 3 people at our annual Harvest Festival. Facilitator Members also automatically get Work Exchange Memberships, so they can earn Community Dollars that can be used for many goods and services within the Community. If preferred, Wood Plan Members can pay their fees in a payment plan of $40/mo for a 12 month term.
As we grow, resource sharing opportunities are available for eco-conscious and sustainable living enterprises to incubate / operate in partnership with the Sanctuary and the broader community project. Enterprises will focus on healthy environmentally responsible initiatives such as permaculture, medicinal foraging, organic food production, natural health and natural building. Ideal for individuals and groups to grow their sustainable living skills while creating an income stream, as well as resource exchange opportunities for the community. This membership includes free participation in several of our Earth-based healing workshops, while also offering opportunities for Members to participate in it’s own learning and development opportunities. (Call for Proposals for 2019 Eco-Enterprises will be announced this August)
Earth-Based Healing Internships $1,200 / year
Launching in 2019, this program is designed for individuals ready to deepen their earth-based healing skills and training through long-term on-site internships that deepen our connection with ourselves, each other and the Earth. We are developing a whole series of courses and workshops, including certificate programs in various earth-based healing modalities. Some examples include medicinal foraging, healing through the elements, vision quests, plant-based ceremony, sacred fire-keeping, and how to live in tune with the lunar, solar, and seasonal calendar. These training programs will include on-site, 6-8 week live-in programming as well as equivalent internships that can be completed over a number of weekends across the year.
