Expand your consciousness on sacred land that nurtures self-discovery, collective growth, and the welcomes a blend of eastern and western wisdom. Located just outside of the town of Rosseau in the Township of Muskoka Lakes, The Rosseau Sanctuary is a hobby farm offering 30 acres  of rock, stream, meadow, sky, and forest - far enough from the city to really unplug and replenish; close enough to a beautiful lakeside town to pick up what you may need or jump in the lake for a swim!

FACILITIES

The Rosseau Sanctuary is committed to facilitating healing experiences and training programs that foster a deeper connection with self, eachother, and our environment. Facilities include:
Main lodge
A beautiful log cabin equipped with ceremonial room, kitchen*, fridge, stove, dining area, 2 washrooms, 2 bathtubs, 3 showers (2 indoors and one outdoor), living room with fireplace, orgone accumulator, 2 (facilitator) bedrooms, and guest sleeping area (sleeps 8, but only 6 during COVID due to social distancing needs).
Patio
Patio equipped with 2 picnic tables, solar lights and edible planters, overlooking the forest line, meadow, and ceremonial fire.
Forest cabins
3 off-grid pine-lined forest cabins for private sleeping options for guests. 2 have a double bed in each (one is propane heated for cooler months), and one cabin has 2 single beds (also propane heated). A 4th cabin is being completed.
showers
We have 2 showers in the Main Lodge, and one outdoor shower with a foot washing station (heated water).
Labyrinth
Our 90ft Chartres Labyrinth is available for self-guided or facilitated walks in late spring (when the snow melts), summer and fall.
Riverside gazebo
In the summer months, mosquito netting encloses a 10' square gazebo overlooking the Rosseau River. This is Ideal for individual or group meditations as well as one-on-one healing sessions.
magical stream
Only a 3-minute walk from the Main Lodge, the stream meanders along a forest trail amidst moss covered boulders, ferns, frogs and deadfall.
Community fire
Just off our patio, we have created a sacred fire pit, the Heart Fire ideal for night-time stories, ceremonies, and camaraderie. Further down near the forest line, we have another area set up for outdoor cooking, and for folks tenting on the land to share. We praise the Spirit of Fire and give thanks to it for it's heat, its energy, and its gift of transformation and community.
Members-only tenting area
Secluded in the forest about a 3 minute walk uphill from the Sanctuary, is an area we'd like to develop for camping for Members and their families to stay while they are volunteering on projects, particularly as part of our garden, greenhouse, permaculture, and trails work. We've recently installed an outhouse for this purpose, and will continue to develop the area in the months and years to come.
Artesian well water
The water available in the Main Lodge and hoses is all sacred living water, made available by our artesian well. We praise our water, give thanks to the Spirit of Water and to the Guardian of our well.
Resident land steward
Our resident Land Steward Tracy lives in a cottage while she cares for the plants, plantscapes, garden and greenhouse on the property. Tracy offers retreat support, manages the decor onsite, and is the one to thank for the fresh seasonal displays from the forest that are created for each retreat.
Earth healing lodge
A non-indigenous sweatlodge has been activated beside the Labyrinth, by Jodie Cara Lindley. This is a sacred area and not to be entered outside of the ceremony. If you are interested in having a sweatlodge within your retreat, please contact her and visit our Event Page for more information.
